Principals Message
Hello Fremont Academy of Engineering Students, Parent and Community,
Welcome the 2023-2024 Academic Year! Our students, faculty, staff and community experienced an exceptional 2022-2023 academic year at Fremont Academy and we look forward to an even greater experience for all in 2023-2024. The first day of school will begin on Monday, August 14, 2023. We look forward to greeting all our returning students, as well as providing a warm welcome to all incoming seventh graders and new students to our school.
This is my sixth year serving as Principal at FAED after serving as the Principal at Pomona HS from 2008-2018. Prior to arriving in PUSD, I taught and began my administrative career at Palmdale HS. Throughout these experiences, I have learned that establishing a collective vision for students and with students is essential. Student ideas and voice play a large role in synthesizing with our school plan and objectives. In August of last year, during advisory over several weeks, we engaged the campus in generating ideas and articulating thoughts about what type of campus we want at Fremont. Our students and community identified three concept areas of focus for the school culture at Fremont Academy of Engineering and Design. The three areas identified were Fun, Clean and Safe! As a school, we all promoted and actualized these fundamental concepts in fun and creative ways. In addition to having the highest attendance rates for all PUSD secondary schools, we also planned and engaged our students in over 60 educational field trips. Our teachers, faculty, staff, and administration prioritize safety and well-being as the top priority each day, which sets the stage for meaningful teaching and learning. We also recognize that keeping a well-maintained, stimulating and positive campus impacts motivation. We all contribute to our intentional culture. Our vision, Advance Resilient Scholars through the Design Process. We expect all students to Advance in academics, social development and establishing a personal/career vision. Resilience is the quality which individuals demonstrate the will and determination to overcome life’s many obstacles. The Design Process, also known as the engineering method, is a frame that guides engineers through a series of steps to generate concepts, develop a solution, and evaluate the effectiveness of the solution. We all use the Design Process in different ways each day to make improvements. Our Mission: Fremont Academy will engage all students in a rigorous, research-based STEA²M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, AVID & Math) education, that ensures all learners are inquiry-based thinkers and global-minded citizens who are prepared for college, career, and life.
We encourage all students to join extra-curricular programs including academic enrichment, social clubs, athletic teams and we are proud to announce we will have esports teams as well. We offer an abundance of ways for Parents and Community to be involved including attending parent workshops, coffee with the Principal and participating on our School Advisory Council and/or English Language Advisory Council.
Over the past years, I have learned our students are inquisitive, inquiry-based thinkers striving to get to the next step in life. Our teachers and counselors are caring, supportive, demanding and most of all expect and want the best for you! Our office staff and support staff are diligent and provide excellent customer service. Our goals for 2023-2024 include advancing school wide literacy and numeracy, as well as making greater gains in the development of our Fun, Clean and Safe campus. Our campus is open each day from 7:30-4:30. We look forward to an outstanding academic year at FAED! Class of 2024 this is your graduation year!
